About Us

Hopeful Farms is mostly family operated but was started by two best friends, there goal is to really train horses. Not just so they know but that they listen and are a horse that you dreamed of, no more problems. We have trained horses other well know trainers have said or called 'un trainable'. No horse is un trainable nor is a horse trainable. A horse simply needs to know who his friends are and who to trust. Some people call a bad behaving horse crazy psycho or down right ornery. Most horses who act like that are either scared confused or so messed up that he doesn't now how to be a horse anymore! We have the space time love and consistency to help a horse. Hopeful Farms is located in Arlington Washington where we end up with more rain then sun but when it sunny we sure know how to make the best of it ... play with our horses!!!

Where did the name come from? Samantha loved Arabian horses all her life but soon realized that Haflingers where the horses for her. With the love of Arabs and the passion for Haflingers she named the farm Hopeful Farms. But what do Arabians have to do with Haflingers or the name? Well, If you didn't know Haflingers all trace back to one Arabian stallion. So the Arabian factor came about when she was a child watching the Black Stallion. The main character next to the stallion as Alac who after winning a great race on ‘the black’ started a farm. The farm was Hopeful Farms.

Staff

Kerri

Kerri is our Manager, Photographer and the ultimate show groom. Kerri has been around horses all her life. She owned 2 ponies and a quarter horse when she was a child. Later she went on to work for ROL Lervick Arabians for several years. There she learned how the 'big boys' did it. She was there head clipper clipping National champions for shows and photo sessions. At Lervicks she learned what the standard was for being the best which she incorporates into HP. After several years of being a mother she went to work for Professional Horseman's Supply. There she soon promoted to head Manager of the store. She lends great knowledge of the equine industry to HP. During the times she wasn't involved with horses she was acting or molding. She hit a couple big rolls and has met some great actors and actress. Kerri's dream all her life was to have a horse farm like most little girls, but it wasn't until Samantha came along, did it blossom. Kerri is our farm photographer. She loves to take photos of EVERYTHING! Sometime she thinks of her self of a tourist in a new country taking thousands of photos.

Samantha

"Samantha has loved horses ever since she was knee high to a grasshopper" says Mom Kerri. Samantha started riding horses at the young age of 6, where she rode under the watchful eye of Moe and Diane Morris for a whopping 9 years. Sam was raised around the Arabian horses where her mom worked. Thus the black stallion was her dream horse. After bagging for a horse all her life (like most of you have/had) she was told yes at the age of 12. She wanted an Arabian but her grandfather who had learned of the Haflinger horses told her that that was the only breed he would ever buy for the first horse. Little did he know it was soon to be the only breed he'd ever hear about. She fought for the Arab for months then decided to go with a 2 year old unbroken Haflinger filly. She took a year off training with Moe and Diane to break her horse. With minimal help from others this 12 year old girl started to ride her 2 year old mare Marquisse BCH. After that she was hooked on the breed. At 15 she started Hopeful Farms.

Kayt

Kayt is back! After getting married and having her three boys Dallas Wyatt & Colton she has finely found time to come back to the barn. She was here in the first place helping set up HP. She was not able to stay for the long haul due to her boys but is now in the barn and working horses like before. She owns Starbuck a mini gelding that she started to train to drive. He is coming along great.

Liz

This is Liz, who has been around horses all her life. We have only had her around HP for a year and she is not going any where. We won't let her go! She helps out tremendously, from riding, showing, cleaning stalls to holding horses for the vet. Even though she has her own Arabain she has always wanted and loved the Haflinger breed for a long time. After working with all the Haflingers she has fallen in love with Toccata. Ask her what horse she wants to ride and it is Toccata. We can't keep her away from her!
