Artistry WBF or Arlo is our boy. Half brother to our Marquisse & Mckayla, all out of the Elite stallion Aristocrat TOF. His Dam Lilli foaled his half sister LaFollie who is probably one the most renowned Haflinger mare's in the USA. I had always said no geldings, until I seen him. He is so handsome and he knows it! Arlo was a Grand National Champion as a weanling stud colt. He was breed in Ohio and was bought as a weanling after nationals. Arlo was supposed to be a stud but was gelded when he only droped one testical. Can you beleive he has had 8 registered Owners!!!! I'm number 8 and he was only 8 when we bought him. Sad but he is now here and wont be leaving soon.
I brought Arlo to the Cascade Gold Haflinger Inspection in Oregon. I decided to get him inspected to see what he really was. I could have got him informally inspected but decided if I have to haul him all the way to Oregon I might as well bring home a ribbon!!! I also like the fact that I got a score card that says everything about his conformation. Arlo did fantastic! Everyone LOVED him. Once I let him go for his liberty part everyone ooh and ahhed him as he strutted his stuff. There were several faults and the judges had to drop a few points but he came away with a 72. I think that's pretty good for an unfit 8 year old gelding!
I took Arlo to the Oregon Gold Show in 2006. He did Halter classes and walk trot classes. It was his first show in a LONG time an also the biggest for him and I. He was FANTASTIC I couldn't have been more pleased!!! Check out the 2007 show results!
Arlo is now my official Walk Jog horse and will be showing with Marquisse at local shows. We are mastering his canter and we may dabble in English.
**April 08 Update** Arlo Arlo Arlo what to put about this ball of hair.... Well he was going fantastically in dressage and then he started to act out in the canter (wasn't wanting to do the transition). So we pulled him from training until we could get our vet out to do his teeth. After almost a month the vet will be here and Arlo will be back to work within the week. I am eagerly awaiting our return! He is a very fun horse and with luck and elbow grease he will be our hunter horse for Oregon Gold 08.
Arlo schooling dressage and is giving hunter lessons to a 17 year old. She has been showing him over the winter and plan to ride him hunter this summer.
We are currently looking for a dressage rider who would be interested in a free care lease. He is not a beginner horse and is not a husband safe or trail horse (although he trail rides perfectly). He needs a rider who wants to do dressage. He loves to learn and has the never say never attitude that is greatly sought after in a dressage. With his movement and mind he could go up the levels quickly. He has great talent and is looking for someone who will appreciate it.
Arlo before photo taken the day we went to see him for the first time.
