Please welcome Mckayla. She is a 1999 Haflinger mare who came to us from Lopez Island. She was an old pasture buddy with our Arlo. We are happy to add MC to our mare herd as she is another Ari baby. I seem to collect them.

Mc has been with us for a while now and is learning well. When we first rode her if you pulled on the rains at all she would shoot her nose up in the air. Needless to say she doesn't do that anymore. Mc has been dragged around on several 4 hour trail rides and we even took her to the ocean for 3 days. Which she enjoyed.

Our Goals for Mc is to finish training and maybe grace the show arena once or twice and possibly breed her in the future.

Mc was in professional training and did great. Below are some photos of her on 12-12-06. I have never seen her trot like this the whole time she has been with us. She just started trotting out like this recently. Total Silver material.

On 12-17-06 Mc attended her first horse show! She was VERY laid back about the whole thing. It was hard for me to ride her there as I hadn't ridden her since she had been in training and was a little different to ride. She did great though and did everything I told her even if it was the wrong thing! We did a walk only class to get her in the arena. Not sure what they judge but we got a 3rd. We then went into a walk jog Eq class with 5 of us in it. I helped Mc win her first BLUE ribbon in that class. She did better in the pleasure class. She showed us she can jog when she puts her mind to it. Jogging is a little hard for her as she is so forward moving. She did WONDERFUL and got better and better in all of her classes. In her last class which was pleasure she took a 3rd in a 5 horse class. Pretty good for her first show and I having not ridden her in a while!

Mc did fantastic at I&C! Being pregant and going 884 miles to Modesto Ca, she was a real trooper. I think she relized what all the preping was for once we arrived at I&C. We have worked for a whole steady month on her condition and she was wondering what was going on. She has never been worked like that.

Mc was very good for the judges and I must say they had some wonderful things to say about her. First off they LOVED her hooves! They are just what they want for a Haflinger. That says alot since they were like dinner plates when I first seen her. My ferrier will be happy about that! The other thing they liked about her was her back legs and hindquarters. How many Halfinger's get 8's on those and verbal compliments from the judges on the hindquarters? Not many. The hindqauters are a very difficulte thing for a Haflinger as the saying goes a prince in the front and a pesent behind. She was awared a score of 73. Pretty good for a repo pony. I beleive she should be a 76 or at least a 75. The judges agreed that if it wasn't for a small fault she would have gone silver all the way. Good job MC, now lets plan for a healthy baby.

Trotting out.

Jan 1st 06 when she got here.

August 24th ready for I&C. She dosen't even look like the same horse anymore!

We will be breeding Mc to Nicodemus TOF this year. We look forward to this great cross!
