We brought Marz to Oregon to get classified at the Cascade Gold Haflinger Classification. She had a blast as she showed off to the crowd of people. Before she went in to be classified several knowledge Haflinger people said she was either a silver or Gold!! She came out with a Silver ribbon.
In 2004 we had brought her to the Haflinger Inspection where Johannes Schweisgut (WHF President) said "she is a world class Haflinger".
Marquisse has been successfully showing western in open, 4-h, zone and breed shows for about 2 years. We have finely taken the plunge into English riding and she made her English debut at Oregon Gold. She did tremendously well getting Haflinger English Pleasure Walk/trot and Haflinger English Pleasure. She also won Grand Champion English horse. What a great start to a prosperous English career!
**April 08 Update**Since Marz has been off for so long and Oregon Gold is coming up we are in a scramble to get her in shape again. She is progressing smoothly with no signs of being lame, which we are all very happy about. She has those weak stifles and when bringing her back into shape she is prone to being off for a few days. After about 2 weeks of solid conditioning she has been sound and we are starting to see those muscles of hers ripple. We will be ready for action soon! See you at Oregon Gold 08!
**April 09 Update** Marquisse has been giving western pleasure lessons to a 10 and 15 year old. She is also being shown by Liz in some loping classes. Everyone wants to show Marquisse! She is being schooled weekly and is staying in shape. We plan to campaign her this show season with several different riders.
For fun we went though our photo albums and found an old photo of Marquisse. It was taken a month before we brought her home as a 2 year old still at Briar Croft. What an amazing mare she has become!
**March '10 Update** We finally did it! We Bred Marquisse. After a lot of planning and even more debating we chose to breed her to Nickerson SSF, this will be a Silver X Silver cross and we can not be more excited. We are hopeing for a filly so that we can breed the filly to Willard Whyte in the future. Even if Marquisse has a colt we will most likely keep him as a show gelding or stallion prospect. It will be very weird to see Marquisse with a preggo belly.
